Steampunk Round Robin–Journal

This is the journal I made for the ArtCharm round robin bracelet. Hopefully it will fit in the envelope. It measures approximately 4″x3.75″x1″. The instructions are to use a 6×9 padded envelope and put the bracelet in a cardboard box. It’ll be tight :)…

The cover is brown scrapbook paper run through my Spellbinder Wizard using the Cuttlebug clockwork embossing folder. It’s wrapped around some bookboard. I distressed it using bleach, then inked it with Ranger’s Distress inks: Vintage Photo, Walnut and Black Soot. The pages are Tim Holtz’s kraft glassine envelopes folded in half with the ends cut off. I’ve added images to the envelope sides by running them thru the inkjet printer. Once they’re heat set, they won’t smudge off. Inserts are kraft cardstock. I’ve added the month and lines to each of the 11 pages so the participants can add to the journal.

The pages are bound using the “Raven’s Foot” binding technique demoed by Karol Taylor at Artfully Musing here: . Unfortunately, since I didn’t use traditional signatures, I had to cover up the binding with a leather edge. The traditional signature design would have connected the front and back cover to the first and last signature and not covered up the binding technique…oh, well…
